In the early 20th century, Picasso and his contemporaries developed Cubism: a way of portraying a subject from several vantage points at once, resulting in an abstract, fragmented version of reality. Or, as comedian Hannah Gadsby put it in her 2018 special Nanette, "Cubism. All the perspectives at once! Any of those perspectives a woman's? No!"
