In 2010, The Clark Art Institute in Williamstown, MA held a show called "Picasso Looks at Degas," which explored how Degas's work inspired Picasso. Near the end of his life, Picasso even included depictions of Degas as an onlooker in brothel scenes, going so far as to name him in the titles. In a New York Times review of the show, critic Karen Rosenberg asks of these pieces, "What, exactly, is Picasso doing here?" Here, one of Degas's dancers seemingly wonders the same.
