Dance Off

$75.00

Painting half a century apart, in vastly different societal contexts, Paul Klee and Edgar Degas had little in common. Where Degas was serious. Klee was silly. Whereas Degas was ferociously anti-semitic, Klee satirized Hitler and was deemed "degenerate" by the Nazi party. Their dancers were never intended to meet.

Framed: `12.5" x 14.5" / Unframed: 4.25" x 6"

Reference Works:

  • "Ballerina Posing For A Photographer" by Edgar Degas (1875)

  • (Superimposed) A sketch of a dancer by Paul Klee (ca. 1930)
